Aviation, just like many tech-related industries, is always looking for bright talent and sharp minds in order to continue building and expanding on the rich heritage of knowledge that drives innovation and prosperity.
How do we attract those 'bright-and-sharps' into our arena?
What of all the other army that makes up the backbone to industry, that keep the wheels turning and the fuel-flow burning? We sure need them, especially the best of what's available to keep our safety and reliability stats up?
How do we get our industry (and our country as a whole), more exposure to the 'diamonds-in-the-rough' talent that we all know is out there?
Then on to developing and nurturing that talent and exposing young minds to possibilities that they were never aware of?
An opportunity for every youngster to have a chance, have a dream, let their talent and enthusiasm be showcased to the world, no matter what arena that talent may be in?
For industry, the opportunity to assist in developing those willing and keen to learn in order to channel them towards great success and growth of the sector is now a realistic possibility. Nay, probability…
We need talent for all sectors, from air and cabin crew, engineering and ATC's to ramp supervisors, safest crew, freight and fuel handlers and the other 1001 posts required to keep the lights on.
We can't rely on government or our present educational system to do this, even if they are willing to. The stats speak for themselves.
The private sector needs to take the lead and assist in achieving this, with their business skills and deeper institutional understanding of the situation.
If the private sector can create a platform that exposes the best potential talent to nurture, is it not in all of our business interests to assist and invest in the right people and developmental systems to encourage this? Great for the industry, great for the individual and great for the country…
Up until now, this has always been a heck of a problem.
We want to give EVERY student a chance to become aware of the amazing possibilities out there in our (and other) tech-related industries. In a simple, affordable way that works across the country. No picking students due to all of the unpleasant vexatious processes that have rankled in the recent past.
We are talking about students that, when given the chance, have put their hand up by showing positive personal traits that make them educate-able and highly employable. In a simple, affordable and effective way. No 'gaming the system' with parental influence. No restrictions on their geographic location.
Those students who will be able to “go all the way - once shown the way“.
Taking students on for their ATTITUDE - then training for APTITUDE.
Heard of that one before ..?
'Get up - dress up - show up - grow up - and do the Job'.
That's who we want.
