The Hot Dog stand
The second Saturday of the month, EAA Chapter's monthly Gathering day on the 11th April, came around all too quickly. Our guests, Arnie and Dawn Quast, EAA Chapter 932 president, Galt Airport, Chicago, arrived in South Africa the evening before armed with ingredients to introduce us to the unique Chicago style Hot Dog.
Despite clashes with two other aviation events on the day, we were delighted with the attendance of over 40 aviators who came to hear Arnie's talk, a well thought out and engaging presentation. The Hot Dogs were a treat, so much so that it may well become a Jack Taylor regular!
Following the gathering, we joined forces with the Krugersdorp Flying Club, for a fun rally around the patch and a well supported day on the airfield. Orion Cub proudly let Arnie put their plane through its paces, thanks to pilot Dale de Klerk and owners Kevin and Vanessa Hopper.
We look forward to our next Chapter 973 gathering on the 9th May, an active chapter that has certainly delivered on its promises!
